In a significant development, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled a robust 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Veteran allrounder Mitchell Santner is all set to lead the BlackCaps team, which is an amalgamation of experience and youth. 

Williamson, Ferguson Return To ODI Squad For Champions Trophy

New Zealand have brought experienced players Kane Williamson and Lockie Ferguson back to their ODI setup for the Champions Trophy this year. Both these players haven't played a single ODI after the 2023 World Cup in India. However, considering their potential and stature, the BlackCaps have included the star duo in their Champions Trophy squad. 

Will Young, who has showcased remarkable form in the ODI format of late, will spearhead New Zealand's top order batting along with Williamson, Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra.

However, New Zealand's allrounders are going to be their biggest strength in the Champions Trophy. As we have seen over the years, the BlackCaps always prefer multi-dimensional cricketers in their lineup and this time there's no exception. The likes of Santner, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra, who can contribute with bat and ball, will play crucial roles for the Kiwis in the tournament. 

On the other hand, the experienced duo of Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson will spearhead New Zealand's pace attack in the absence of Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Nathan Smith, Ben Sears, Will O'Rourke are the other three fast bowlers in the team.
