Will Shikhar Dhawan Play In ILT20 2025? CEO Provides A Massive Update

On Saturday, August 24, Shikhar Dhawan shook the cricketing world after he announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket.

Dhawan took to social media platforms to update the fans about his retirement. Days after bidding adieu to the game, the southpaw revealed that he would be participating in the upcoming edition of the Legends League Cricket. 

In the latest events, ILT20 CEO David White has expressed his interest in roping in Dhawan for the 3rd edition of UAE's premier T20 league that will begin early next year.

“Yep. I think that there’s been some inquiries in that direction. But that’s only happened in the last 24 hours. So I haven’t got anything to report on that, but there’s certainly interest,” White was quoted as saying To Times Of India.


“But we’ve no idea of whether he’s going to carry on playing cricket of that standard or not, but as soon as we heard the news, we were making some enquiries, but we’ve had no more information so far. We are just trying to investigate whether he has retired fully from cricket or not. I’m not going to hide that there is an interest, of course,” he added.

What Does BCCI Policy Say About Retired Players' Participation In Overseas Leagues?

In July 2023, there were reports that the BCCI might look to frame a policy to stop pre-determined retirements by introducing cooling off-periods. However, no such step was taken in such a direction. Thus, Dhawan can partake in the upcoming ILT20 if he finds the offer attractive.
