  • Wi Vs Ban Anamul Haque Added To Bangladeshs Test Squad In Place Of Injured Yasir Ali

WI vs BAN | Anamul Haque added to Bangladesh's Test squad in place of injured Yasir Ali

Bangladesh have included top-order batter Anamul Haque in the Test squad to replace injured Yasir Ali for the second Test of the two-match series against the West Indies.

West Indies will host Bangladesh for a two-match Test match series, scheduled to start from Thursday (June 16th) in North Sound, Antigua.

Yasir Ali suffered a back injury during the three-day game against President XI and, as a result, has been ruled out of the series.

29-year-old Anamul, who last played a Test match for Bangladesh back in 2014, returns to the Test team and will be available for selection in the second Test. He will be flying to Antigua on June 17th and will join the rest of the team members ahead of the second Test, scheduled to start on June 24th in St Lucia.

Speaking to Cricbuzz on Wednesday (June 15th), Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed the inclusion of Anamul Haque in the Bangladesh Test squad for the second Test in St Lucia.

''We have decided to send Anamul as a back-up batsman considering Yasir has been ruled out from the (Test) series due to injury," Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin said.

''Anamul is scoring runs consistently at domestic cricket and as a result we have included him in the white-ball series following the Test matches,'' he added.

Anamul was already named in the Bangladesh white-ball squads, after a record-breaking season in List A cricket.

Anamul, who hasn't played for Bangladesh since 2019 in any format, scored 1138 runs in the recently concluded Bangladesh's domestic List A tournament, creating a new world record for aggregating the most number of runs in a List A tournament.

Bangladesh will play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is on their Caribbean tour starting on Thursday.
