Mumbai Indians (MI) will be playing their final game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as they will be welcoming Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last game at the Wankhede on Friday, May 17 evening in match 67 of the season.

With MI already out of the tournament for some time now, they would want to play for the pride and avoid this from being their joint-worst season alongside 2022 when they finished with 8 points.

On the flip side, LSG would be looking for a huge win as they still stand an outside chance of making it to playoffs where net run rate would emerge as a factor.

The last time these two sides met was on April 30 in the ongoing season. Let us see how it panned out.

When LSG met MI in IPL 2024:

The Super Giants won the toss in the home leg and asked the Mumbai franchise to bat first in rather bowler-friendly conditions and MI had no answers, the batters just couldn't get going as they found themselves 27/4 before the end of the powerplay.

Nehal Wadhera and Ishan Kishan did some recovery work as they added run-a-ball 53 runs for the 5th wicket. Tim David helped them reach 144/7 with his late flurry of 35*(18). Wadhera top scored with 45(41) and Kishan failed to convert his 32(36) in a big one.

Mohsin Khan got 2/36 in his four overs and Naveen-ul-Haq had a fantastic outing, just conceding 15 runs in 3.5 overs, dismissing skipper, Hardik Pandya on a golden duck.

The Marcus Stoinis Show:

In the run-chase, LSG lost young Arshin Kulkarni on a golden duck, however, LSG skipper, KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis didn't allow a collapse. They stitched a 40-ball-58-run partnership before the captain departed at 28(22).

Stoinis then added more 40(35) and 16(10) with Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran respectively as he got dismissed at 62(45), after practically killing the game with his Player of The Match performance, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes during his stay.

Pooran comfortably guided the Lucknow side to victory with 4 balls spare as they registered their 6th and so far, the last win of their 2024 season.
