Delhi Capitals (DC) will cross swords with the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 40th match of the IPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, April 24th. The previous encounters between these teams have been characterized by low scores, but this upcoming match is expected to be a high-scoring affair.

With the Titans currently in sixth place and the Capitals in eighth, the outcome of this match could significantly impact the trajectory of both teams for the remainder of the season. A win for the Titans would place the Capitals in a precarious position, nearing elimination from the tournament. Conversely, a win for Delhi could propel them past Mumbai Indians in the standings and overtake the Titans.

After coming into existence in the IPL in 2022, the Titans have faced the Capitals only four times. The head-to-head record stands at 2-2, with the Capitals emerging victorious in the reverse fixture earlier this season in Ahmedabad.

When DC Outclassed GT in Ahmedabad

In that match, the Titans posted their lowest IPL score of 89/10, with Rashid Khan top-scoring with 31 runs. Delhi's bowlers, led by Mukesh Kumar with three wickets, Ishant Sharma, and Tristan Stubbs with two each, along with contributions from Axar Patel and Khaleel Ahmed, dominated the Titans' batting lineup.

In response, DC secured a convincing victory, reaching 92/4 in just 8.5 overs. The chase began with Jake Fraser-McGurk smashing a few lusty blows, including a six off his first ball. Though he departed early, Abishek Porel and Shai Hope maintained the momentum, scoring briskly.

Despite three quick wickets, Delhi found themselves in a strong position to chase down the target quickly and improve their net run rate. Rishabh Pant anchored the innings till the end, partnering with Sumit Kumar to seal the win inside ten overs.
