After a 2-0 loss against the South Africa in the Test series, the West Indies side will be hoping to change their fortunes when they meet their counterparts in the upcoming three-match ODI and T20I series.

However, they have received a major dent to their hopes as the ace pacer Obed McCoy who was part of the T20I has been called back after sustaining a knee injury. Moreover, he was included in the squad subjected to medical clearance but now, has been withdrawn.

In his place, Roston Chase has been announced as his replacement in the 15-member squad that will play their first match on 25th March at Centurion.

Meanwhile, Dr Desmond Haynes, lead selector of West Indies said,

“Roston gets an opportunity in the upcoming series as we see him being a versatile player who can be called upon at any stage in the game. We want to wish Obed the best with his rehabilitation programme and hope to see him back in West Indies colours soon.”

Previously, Rovman Powell was announced as the new T20I captain replacing Nicholas Pooran after World Cup disaster.

To the unversed, McCoy is also a part of Rajasthan Royals squad for the upcoming edition of the IPL where his side would be playing first game on 2nd April.
