Following New Zealand's 90-run victory over the West Indies in the second T20I at Sabina Park on Friday, skipper Kane Williamson said that his team is trying to improve by giving clarity of roles to players.

In a one-sided encounter at Kingston magnified the rapid decline of the two-time World T20 winners over the past 12 months. The visitors piled up 215 for five in the first innings and then in the second innings the Blackcaps restricted the hosts to just 125 for nine to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series.

Speaking about the comprehensive win over the Windies, Blackcaps captain Williamson said that it is the clarity in the change room that is producing results for finalists of the T20 World Cup 2021.

Williamson gives clarity of role to his teammates

"We know that T20 cricket can be very fickle in its nature. We are just trying to improve and bring guys into the side and give them clear roles. It's not trying too hard just to try and make contributions to your team and the style of cricket that we are trying to play," Kane Williamson said after the match.

"Just trying to keep things nice and simple. The personnel keeps changing, so for a side like us, we are sort of just working towards it, but it is nice to see a couple of good performances. We got another one in a couple of days' time and a few more after that as well. It is just about taking the small steps forward."
