WC-winning Ian Harvey leaves his Gloucestershire's job

Former Australian all-rounder Ian Harvey has decided to step down as Gloucestershire's assistant head coach. Harvey, who joined Gloucestershire as the assistant head coach in 2015, has played a pivotal role in the rise of the Bristol-based cricket club's stature in the English domestic circuit during his seven-year tenure.

Harvey, who had a terrific stint with Gloucestershire as a player from 1999 to 2003, had a massive hand in the club's promotion to division one cricket in 2019.

Further, the former Australian World Cup-winner also led Gloucestershire to their maiden Royal London one-day cup title in 2015, which validates his immense contributions to the county club's upliftment.

He took over as interim head coach in 2021 after Richard Dawson left for a new role at the ECB before returning to his assistant position ahead of this summer. However, the appointment of Steve Snell as Gloucestershire's performance director over the winter was followed by the arrival of Dale Benkenstein as head coach.

The official website of Gloucestershire surfaced the news via an official statement. In the statement, the club has expressed its gratitude towards Harvey for his remarkable contributions to Gloucestershire cricket.

The statement also mentioned the Gloucestershire legend as one of the most popular members of the coaching staff, and all the club members have wished him the very best for his future ventures.

"We would like to thank Ian for his significant contribution to Gloucestershire cricket. Ian has been a hugely popular member of staff and with everybody connected with the club, and we all wish him well in his future endeavours," the statement read.
