Indian captain Rohit Sharma was rested from the team's ongoing five-match T20I series in West Indies. The cricketer will also not travel to Ireland for India's subsequent three-match T20I assignment.

Sharma utilised his much-needed break from the game by attending the Tirupati Balaji Temple in Andhra Pradesh. The Indian opening batsman visited the temple with his family to seek blessings for the Asia Cup scheduled later this month.

Much like Sharma, his teammate Virat Kohli was also spotted attending the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain earlier this year when India hosted Australia for a four-match Test series.

Both cricketers will soon reunite with the Indian team for the Asia Cup, set to be hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The tournament will commence on August 30 with a match between Nepal and co-hosts Pakistan, while India's campaign will kick off with a clash against their arch-rivals on September 2 in Kandy.

The premier continental event is an important chapter in India's dress rehearsal ahead of the ODI World Cup at home later this year.
