In a unique and entertaining twist, Ravichandran Ashwin, the seasoned Indian cricketer, took to Instagram to share his predictions for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction. The anticipation is building as 333 players gear up to go under the hammer at Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena on December 19, marking the IPL's first-ever auction away from home soil.

With a keen eye for the game, Ashwin, who is set to play for the Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming season, employed cricketing shots to assign price ranges to players before unveiling his predictions. The categories ranged from the defensive shot, valued at 2-4 crores, to the explosive helicopter shot, commanding a whopping 14+ crores.

The mini-auction will see a total of 70 slots filled, with 30 reserved for overseas cricketers. Among the 333 players in the mix, 214 are Indians, 119 are foreign players, and two hail from associate countries. Additionally, 116 of the players are capped, while 215 are uncapped.

Ashwin kicked off his predictions with Shahrukh Khan, the Tamil Nadu batter released by Punjab Kings, placing him in the high-stakes bracket of 10 to 14 crores. The ODI World Cup breakout star, Rachin Ravindra, found himself in the 4-7 crores cover drive range.

Harshal Patel, the Purple Cap winner from IPL 2021, was predicted to go for 7 to 10 crores, while Indian pacer Umesh Yadav was slotted in the 4 to 7 crores range.

Ashwin also weighed in on Australia's World Cup-winning trio – Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Travis Head. The seasoned cricketer foresees Cummins and Starc commanding bids beyond 14 crores, underlining their stellar performances in the ODI World Cup.

Surprisingly, Ashwin predicts that Travis Head, Player of the Match in the World Cup final, will fetch a more modest 2 to 4 crores.

As Ashwin's video unravelled more predictions, the cricketing community awaited the auction day to see if his unique approach to foreseeing players' values would stand the test of the bidding wars. The stage is set for a thrilling event, and fans are excited as they count down to the IPL Mini-Auction in Dubai on December 19.

Having already made a mark with 171 wickets in 197 IPL matches at an impressive average of 28.67, a strike rate of 24.53, and an economy rate of 7.01, Ashwin is gearing up for another impactful season.
