WATCH: Marcus Stoinis' furious reaction post dismissal against RCB

On Tuesday, a clinical effort from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured their fifth victory of the IPL 2022 by 18 runs against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). RCB captain Faf du Plessis amassed 96 off 64 balls, which comprised 11 fours and two sixes. In the middle order, Glenn Maxwell and Shahbaz Ahmed again provided valuable contributions of 20+ runs.

With a task to chase the target of 182, LSG captain KL Rahul scored 30 off 24 balls and played a key anchor role in the powerplay overs. They had a decent start with around 100 runs in 12 overs, but momentum shifted to RCB's side after the back-to-back wickets of Deepak Hooda (13) and Krunal Pandya (42).

After their wickets, it was upon the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, and Jason Holder to chase down the score. Young Badoni fell early, but Stoinis continued to apply pressure on the bowlers to contain runs. In the 19th over of the innings, LSG needed 34 off 12 balls.

For RCB, the Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood was responsible for coming good for the team. In his first delivery, Stoinis shuffled early, but Hazlewood had different plans to keep it outside the off stump. The ball was way outside the tram line, but the umpire deemed it a legal ball due to the movement of Stoinis.

It certainly fumed Stoinis, as he had missed the ball, which could've proved valuable in a chase. He tried to hit a slog sweep in the next ball, but the ball brushed the pads and rattled the stumps. In an immediate reaction, he looked at the umpire in despair and was heard hurling abuses at him for his decision on the last ball.

With the wicket of Stoinis (24 off 15 balls), the slightest of hope had taken a back seat for the LSG fans. However, Jason Holder provided two lusty blows but was dismissed in the last over, with the team falling short by 18 runs.

Stoinis was later reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct, according to the latest IPL release. The Aussie all-rounder, along with KL Rahul, admitted to a Level 1 offence breach.
