Watch: England arrive in Chennai for the long Indian tour

The England team today landed in Chennai for their 46-day long tour of India where they would play four Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIs in Chennai Ahmedabad and Pune.

While the first two Tests would be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the remaining two Tests along with the five T20Is would be played in the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera in Ahemadabad followed by three ODIs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Joe Root's men would be coming to Indian on the back of a 2-0 clean sweep of Sri Lanka in Galle which has similar conditions as Chennai. Joe Root himself has had two big centuries in Sri Lanka, one of them a double century in the first Test while the English spinners too have impressed.

Being locked up for months unsustainable: Aaron Finch wants solution to bio bubble problems

Australian opener Aaron Finch believes that more time in the bio-bubble is causing problems to the players emotionally and mentally. Named in the Australian team to tour New Zealand for a five-match T20 series, Finch, who captains the limited-overs Australian side said that it might be easier for a single guy, without commitments to remain in the bubble for a longer period of time than someone with a wife and kids, especially when they are not allowed on the tour. “My wife worked out that I have had only 20-22 days without any quarantine since last April. If the bubble and hubs continue, they must be looked into and discussed properly,” the 34-year-old was quoted as saying by the TOI. “The welfare of players is paramount and being locked up for months is unsustainable, especially if you are away from your families and they can’t travel with you,” he added saying that the boards around the world must discuss this issue if the format of the tour is going to remain as closed group bubbles in near future. Cricket Australia announced two different squads for a limited-overs tour to New Zealand and the Test tour to South Africa. While the limited-overs squad would be led by Finch, Tim Paine has been given another chance to prove himself as a captain after the drubbing from India this summer.

Sourav Ganguly hospitalised again

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has been hospitalised once again after reoccurance of chest pain. Sources close to his family revealed that Ganguly complained of pain in his chest on Tuesday night and was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after it increased. Sources further told Anandbazar Patrika that Ganguly's condition is stable. The former skipper had undergone angioplasty earlier. “Sourav Ganguly has undergone angioplasty. He is stable now. He will be monitored for 24 hours. He is completely conscious. There are two blockages in his heart for which he will be treated. As of now he is stable, we will have a meeting on Monday and then we will decide what needs to be done further, priority is to let him settle down after heart attack. He is risk-free and he is talking as well,” Dr. Aftab told reporters, according to news agency ANI earlier. More to follow...

Shahid Afridi denied entry in UAE

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been denied entry due to visa issues. Afridi is slated to play for Qalandars in T10 league. As per a report in The News (Pakistan), Afridi’s residential for the UAE had expired already but the former cricketer didn’t notice it. Afridi had to return home to get his visa renewal. “Abu Dhabi T10 is the fastest action-packed format and the future of cricket. The T10 league begins from January 28. Maratha Arabians take on Norther Warriors in Abu Dhabi and this clash will be followed by the encounter between Pune Devils and Deccan Gladiators at the same venue. The third match takes place between Delhi Bulls and Bangla Tigers. Qalandars will begin the campaign from January 29 against Pune Devils in Abu Dhabi. Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Chris Gayle, Alex Hales are some big names who will be a part of this tournament.

IPL 2021 player auctions on 18th February

The Indian Premier League governing council has confirmed the dates of the player auctions for the 2021 season of the league. The auctions will take place on 18th February in Chennai. The announcement was made through the official Twitter handle of the IPL. The IPL auction is going to be an interesting affair as a lot of teams have released star players who would be bidded for heavily on the 18th of the upcoming month. While teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians have retained most of their squad, others like Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, and Chennai Super Kings would be looking to fill in the gaps that have been created due to forced changes. The Kings XI will enter the auction with the biggest purse of 53 crores followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore who have 35.9 crores and Rajasthan Royals with 34.8 crores. The biggest players to look out for would be the players who have made themselves in the BBL10 as well as the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. Apart from these players others like Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Tom Banton, Nathan Coulter Nile, Aaron Finch, and Chris Morris would be on top o the team's list.
