Virat Kohli has penned down a heartfelt message to his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Aaron Finch. The Australian white-ball captain announced his retirement from ODI cricket, the current Australian series against New Zealand will be Finch's final in the format. 

Finch announces abrupt retirement 

The Australian skipper took to Instagram to announce his retirement in an emotional post. 

"It’s been one hell of a ride! To play with and against some of the greatest players of all time has been a privilege. Representing Australia was my dream as a kid and to have been the opportunities I have is beyond anything I could’ve hoped for. Thanks so much for all of the kind words, messages and well wishes!" 

Fans and peers reacted to the news and gave their best wishes, including former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli commented on the post, congratulating the aussie. 

"Well done finchy. It was great to play against you all these years and with you as well at rcb. Enjoy the next phase of your life to the fullest,"
