It was a mixed day for Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Ramiz Raja, as after being lauded for his progressive ideas of Pakistan cricket, Raja was bashed by netizens for his insensitive trolling of England and Wales Cricket Board’s outgoing chief Ian Watmore.
Netizens were in no mood to spare Raja, who tweeted the news of the resignation of the ECB chief in a manner that was not just unsavoury but also unbecoming of a person holding such a high position as the chairman of a country’s cricket board.
While Raja’s tweet, which was later deleted by himself and apologised for, wanted to showcase that it was due to ECB postponing its long-promised tour to Pakistan in October that ECB sacked its Chairman.
However, Watmore, in his resignation said that he is resigning because of personal reasons and after a very successful tenure.
“It is with regret that I step down as Chair of the ECB, but I do so in mindfulness of my own wellbeing and that of the game which I love. I was appointed to the post in a pre-pandemic era, but Covid has meant the role and its demands on time are dramatically different to all our original expectations, which has taken a personal toll on me.”
