PSL franchises and PCB agree to host seventh edition of the league in Jan-Feb 2022

The Pakistan Cricket Board and six franchises for the Pakistan Super League have agreed to host the seventh season of the league in January- February 2022. The decision was taken in view of Australia’s tour to Pakistan which will most probably start in February- March 2022. “After the successful completion of HBL PSL 6, the Pakistan Cricket Board and HBL Pakistan Super League franchises agreed on Friday (July 23) that the seventh edition of the HBL PSL will be held in January and February next year, “ PCB said in a media release. The sixth edition of PSL which initially started in February 2021 and had to be postponed after the Covid-19 outbreak in the bio bubble of the league, was eventually completed in June this year with Multan Sultans winning their first-ever title defeating Islamabad United in the Finals. The meeting to decide the hosting of the seventh season was done through teleconference in which PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan, Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, GM Commercial Imran Ahmed Khan and PSL Senior General Manager Operations Usman Wahla took part alongside representatives from each franchise. “The two parties also discussed a way forward in regards to the new commercial rights cycle and established a framework for rights evaluation and their subsequent sale,” the PCB added.

Afghanistan to host Pakistan for a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka

Afghanistan is set to host Pakistan in a three-match ODI series at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Sri Lanka tentatively from September 1 to 5. Afghanistan had earlier announced the squad for the bilateral tie against Pakistan and the selectors made as many as eight changes in the side. Sediq Atal, Shahidullah Kamal, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Abdul Rahman are the uncapped players in the side that comprises 17 members. BCCI to send reinforcements for injured players to England

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to send reinforcements to the UK after a couple of more players, Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar were ruled out of the England Tests with respective injuries. As per a report in The Times of India , the BCCI has decided to send replacements for the players. “It’s a conscious decision on part of the BCCI. Earlier, when it was just about one opener, the board decided there were two other options for that slot in Abhimanyu Easwaran and KL Rahul. But now a good all-rounder and an upcoming pacer have also been ruled out. Given the length of the tour, BCCI will have to send replacements,” TOI quoted a source as saying. The reports further added that Bhuvneshwar Kumar might also travel to the UK as he can be effective with the ball in those conditions and also prove handy with the bat. “Probably why Rahul Dravid decided not to play Devdutt Padikkal despite considering five replacements for Friday’s game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar could be in the mix too, considering he can bat and can be effective in English conditions,” the source told the paper. India are slated to play a five-match series against England beginning on August 4 in Nottingham.
