Paul Stirling has flown to England to join the Southern Brave squad for the remainder of the ongoing Men's Hundred competition, after receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Ireland.

Stirling is the overseas player replacement for Marcus Stoinis, who will join the Australia squad ahead of the Zimbabwe series.

The finals of the last season witnessed the Irish batter slamming 61 off 36 to help Brave in lifting the title trophy.

Recently, the 31-year-old became the fourth batter to go past the milestone of 3,000 T20I runs in the series against Afghanistan.

Paul Stirling excited to return to The Hundred

“The Hundred is an exciting competition and having been fortunate enough to play in the inaugural edition, I’m delighted to have the opportunity to return to the Ageas Bowl with the Southern Brave," said Stirling.

"I very much enjoyed being part of a title-winning side last year, so am looking forward to working with [head coach] Mahela Jayawardene, [captain] James Vince and the Brave squad once more.”

Can Stirling help Brave to seal the playoffs spot?

With a single victory in five games, Brave are in the penultimate position in the points table. They have to win their last three league matches by a big margin to stand a chance to seal the playoffs spot.

Known for his power-hitting and fearless attitude, Stirling can surely end Brave's lackluster performances at the top-order. Current openers Quinton de Kock and James Vince have been inconsistent with their contributions.
