Southern Brave Women escaped with a nine-run win over Manchester Originals in match number 10 of The Hundred 2022 season.
After the game, winning skipper Anya Shrubsole praised her ace spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington for her match-turning spell that triggered a collapse within the Kate Cross-led side’s middle-order.

After the match, Southern Brave captain Anya Shrubsole expressed her delight over the team’s remarkable fightback. She said:
“I'm really proud of the girls. That was a game we probably didn't deserve to win, but we hung on and got over the line.”
When asked if she had given any advice to Southern Brave’s Australian import Amanda-Jade Wellington before her match-winning spell, the skipper stated:
“I just let her go on with it and is a quality legspinner who spins it. The English players are not used to [that style].”
Southern Brave vs Manchester Originals as it happened
The Brave batters stacked up 136-5 in their allotted 100 deliveries. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt were the two top-scorers of the innings while Maia Bouchier provided finishing touches with a 17-ball 23*.
The Originals looked all set to upstage their task, reaching 102-2 with 23 balls still remaining at one stage. However, Wellington launched a remarkable rearguard fightback for her side by claiming three Originals’ batters in her 20-ball spell.
Southern Brave’s thrilling win continues their unbeaten run this year as they stay on top of the women’s edition of The Hundred 2022.
