Women’s 6IXTY 2022: Captain Taylor sparks an impactful cameo

In the second game of the triple-header at Warner Park, the Guyana Amazon Warriors flattened the Trinbago Knight Riders with a 15-run hammering.

Winning the toss and batting first, Warriors’ captain Stafanie Taylor turbo-charged her side’s innings to 81-2 off their 10 overs. Opening batters, Rashada Williams and Sri Lankan star Chamari Athapaththu, both scored crucial 20s at the top of the order.

Captain Taylor returned with an economical spell in the second-half of the match, conceding just 10 runs off her two overs.

The Knight Riders’ response sustained multiple casualties in the middle-overs, going down from a commanding 40-1 to 66 all out, all in a space of 26 deliveries. Moreover, twin sisters Kycia and Kyshona Knight were the only batters in the run-chase to reach the double-digits.

With the win, the Warriors became the second side after Barbados Royals to register their opening points on Day 1 of the inaugural women’s 6IXTY itself.
