Thailand Police to launch an investigation into Shane Warne's death

The Thailand Police on Saturday announced that the forensic team will launch an investigation into the tragic demise of the legendary Shane Warne, who was found unresponsive in his room at the Koh Samui Villa on Friday evening.

Warne, 52, had embarked on a holiday trip to the Asian nation earlier this month as per his manager, John Erksine.

The legendary cricketer was found unconscious in his hotel room by his accomplice Andrew Neophitou, who had gone to check on the cricketer after he failed to turn up for dinner.

He attempted to revive Warne via CPR before the ambulance arrived. He was later pronounced dead after repeated attempts to revive him fell flat.

"I got a phone call at 10.37 last night from our guy in Melbourne called Andrew Neophitou, who was actually with Shane in Thailand,” Erskine was quoted as saying by Fox Cricket.

“Shane had sort of decided he was going to have three months off and in fact he wanted a year off, and I said ‘there’s no way you can have a year off, they would’ve forgotten you by a year,’ so he decided to have three months off,"

“They had only arrived the night before. They were going to go out for a drink at 5 o’clock, and (Neophitou) knocked on his door at 5.15 pm because Warnie was always on time and said “come on you’re going to be late” and then realised something was wrong,"

“And he turned him over and gave him CPR and mouth to mouth, which lasted about 20 minutes and then the ambulance came,"

“They took him to the hospital, which was about a 20-minute drive and I got a phone call about 45 minutes later saying he was pronounced dead.” Erskine said.

The Thailand Police has said that the forensic team will investigate the Villa, and also record statements of his companions during the trip.

The statements will be taken as part of the normal modus-operandi in a case involving deaths.

Warne, an all-time legend, represented Australia for a better part of 15 years between 1992-2007 where he terrorized opposition batsmen around the world with his absolute mystery of skills and mind games.

He retired in January 2007 after spearheading Australia to a 5-0 Ashes triumph.
