T20 Blast 2022 | Yorkshire rout Nottinghamshire despite Dan Christian's finishing fury

David Willey-led Yorkshire went up against Dan Christian's Nottinghamshire in a home game this Tuesday, June 6. After 40 overs of slam-bang entertainment, the visitors fell 23 runs short, thus conceding two crucial North Group points to the hosts.

The evening began on a perfect note for Nottinghamshire, with captain Christian winning the toss and deciding to chase. What ensued was a demonstration of proper T20 strokeplay, as Yorkshire openers Finn Allen and Adam Lyth minted 34 runs off the first 3 overs of the innings.

Hosts captain Willey cracked a 19-ball 34 at number 3 before Jake Ball dismissed both opening batters. Wicketkeeper Jonathan Tattersall clubbed an aggressive 48* at the end to empower his side to a daunting 202-5.

Nottinghamshire's chase never took off, considering they lost both their openers within the second over of the innings. Their state of run-chase affairs went from bad to worse as they succumbed to 50-5 soon after.

Despite Steven Mullaney's sparkling 46-ball 79 and Christian's fighting 35-ball 56, the visitors never really took hold of their required run rate, and they ended up finishing on 179-7. Dominic Drakes was the star with the ball for the Yorks for his tight spell of 3-31.
