The 2nd Quarter Final match of the English T20 Blast 2022 will see Warwickshire (WAS) locking horns against Hampshire (HAM) at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
After a staggering group stages, the English T20 Blast makes a move to its knockout stages. Warwickshire will be hosting Southampton County Hampshire in the second Quarter Final.
Warwickshire finished top of the North Group for the first time since 2015 with nine wins out of 14 and a batting Net Run Rate of 1.21 which was the best in either group.
While the world was watching the brilliance of the English Test team, Warwickshire kept rewriting the history books in the T20 Blast all summer.
In 20 years of T20 cricket, nobody had ever scored 200-plus more than five times in a single tournament. In fact there has been only one team (Somerset) in history to cross the 200 mark five times in a tournament (2018).
But Warwickshire tore up the record books, scoring seven 200-plus in the 14 group games they played in this year’s T20 Blast. They have scored at 9.92 runs per over in this tournament so far, which is the second highest by a team in a tournament.
They even made a new competition record of highest team total when they made 261 for 2 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
On the other side, Hampshire started their campaign with four defeats in a row but made an immaculate comeback, winning the nine of the last ten group games and qualified for the last eight after finishing 4th in the South Group.
Hampshire is making a trip to Edgbaston for the first time in 12 years. It was a Quarter Final back then as well and James Vince scored a match winning 66 to take Hampshire through.
After 12 years it is James Vince coming back to Edgbaston as the captain of Hampshire and will be looking to repeat the same performance to make their way to another Semi final.
