T20 Blast 2022 | SUR vs KET | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

The upcoming South Group fixture will see the top-placed Surrey locking horns with the bottom-placed Kent in the 112th match of the English T20 Blast 2022. The fixture is scheduled to be played at Kennington Oval, London, the United Kingdom on Friday (July 1).

Analysing Surrey

Surrey has been outstanding throughout the season, losing just 2 of their twelve T20 Blast games so far. One of their fixtures was suspended due to inclement weather in London. With 19 points in their bag, they are currently sitting at the helm of the points table.

Chris Jordan-led side will come into this encounter on the back of a huge 43 runs loss at the hands of Essex. Their bowlers were taken to the cleaners as Essex went on to post a total of 198 on the board off 20 overs. Surrey, in reply, succumbed to pressure and could manage only 155 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Analysing Kent

Kent, on the other hand, has been the worst-hit side in the South Zone so far. They have won just 3 of their twelve games and are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. Both their batters and bowlers have struggled to find their rhythm in the tournament.

They won their most recent fixture against Sussex by 6 wickets courtesy of Joe Denly's half-century knock and skipper Sam Billings's unbeaten 33-ball 43. However, they will be without the services of their regular skipper Sam Billings as he has been named in England's playing XI against India for a one-off Test, starting Friday.

It will be interesting to see who will don the captaincy cap for Kent in the wicket-keeper batter's absence. Coming into the final phase of the tournament, Kent would aim to win as many games to salvage some pride and finish the season on a high.

Pitch Report: The pitch at London's Kennington Oval Stadium has been a balanced one so far. The ball is likely to move slightly at the start of the innings, and hence batters need to be pretty patient while hitting the shots. Overall, winning the toss and batting first should be the preferred choice at this venue.
