Kent v Middlesex, Canterbury

Result: Kent won by 55 runs

Defending champions Kent finally notched up a win after having suffered 5 consecutive defeats in a row as the Sam Billings-led unit thumped Middlesex by 55 runs at St. Lawrence Ground on Sunday evening.

The 55-run win was set up by opener Joe Denly, who smashed a breathtaking 58-ball 108 with the help of 9 fours and 6 monstrous sixes.

Batting first, Kent lost the prized scalp of Daniel Bell-Drummond on the 3rd delivery of the innings, but a 157-run-stand between Denly and Jordan Cox, who racked up a 34-ball 45, ensured that the defending champions ended up with 192 in 20.

Medium pacer Martin Andersson (3/32 in 4) and off-spinner Chris Green (3/29 in 4) were the pick of the bowlers for Middlesex.

In response, Middlesex could only manage 137/8 in 20 overs as none of their batters, including skipper Stephen Eskinazi 30 (24), could convert their start into a big knock as Denly did.

Middlesex continued to lose wickets at regular intervals thanks to the trio of Jack Leaning (3/30 in 4), George Linde (2/26 in 4) and Grant Stewart (2/14 in 2) and eventually finished 55 runs short of the target.

Brief Score:

Kent 192/8 (20)

Joe Denly 110 (58)

Jordan Cox 45 (34)

Martin Andersson 3/32 (4)

Chris Green 3/29 (4)

Middlesex 137/8 (20)

Stephen Eskinazi 30 (24)

Luke Hollman 29*(19)

Jack Leaning 3/30 (4)

George Linde 2/26 (4)

Glamorgan v Surrey, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

Result: Match abandoned due to rain

Cardiff's inclement weather proved to be spoilsport on Sunday evening as persistent rain forced the South group fixture between Glamorgan and Surrey to end in a no-result.

Chasing 161, Glamorgan were 9/0 in 1.3 overs when heavens opened up, forcing the game to a halt.

Earlier, Surrey rode on cameos from Jason Roy (21 off 14), Will Jacks (17 off 12) and a 21-ball 48 from Jamie Overton to post 160/9 in 20.

Marnus Labuschagne proved to be the unlikely hero with the ball as the Australian claimed two wickets and conceded just 27 in 4 overs.

Thanks to the rain, Surrey's four-match winning streak has ended but they still are at the top of the table in their group, having racked up 9 points from 5 games.

Glamorgan, meanwhile, are at the 7th spot after managing just 2 wins after 6 games.

Brief Scores:

Surrey 160/9 (20)

Sam Curran 31 (30)

Marnus Labuschagne 2/27 (4)

Glamorgan 9/0 (1.3)

David Lloyd 7* (7)

Sam Northeast 2* (2)
