On Tuesday, September 9, the captains of all eight teams participating in the Asia Cup 2025 gathered together for a skipper's meet, where ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi kicked off the prestigious T20 event as Afghanistan is set to take on Hong Kong in the first match.

The trophy was unveiled in the presence of all the captains, who also posed for photos and engaged in a press conference. The highlight of the event was India captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha in the same frame.

Notably, a lot of controversy erupted before the start of the Asia Cup 2025, as pundits and fans had urged the Indian team to boycott playing against Pakistan because of the recent tensions between the two countries.

The fear was common for today's event, which was as to how the two captains from neighbouring countries would greet each other during the captain's meet in the UAE. However, according to NDTV, the two players completely ignored each other and didn't pay heed to each other.

Further, Suryakumar Yadav paid no attention to Salman Agha's existence and didn't exchange any hugs or post-conference handshake. The report added that as soon as the presser got over, Salman Agha quickly exited the room, while SKY waited and exchanged hugs with the remaining six captains in the room.

Notably, the two teams are set for an epic showdown on September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium. It will be the first time that the two heavyweights will lock horns since Operation Sindoor. The last time India and Pakistan locked horns against each other was during Champions Trophy 2025 where India registered a comfortable win.
