Sunil Narine has been in spectacular form this year, excelling with both the ball and bat for KKR. He is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team and has been in superb batting form opening the innings. Recently, he scored an unbeaten century against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

There have been rumors suggesting that Narine might make a comeback to the West Indies national team for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to happen in the West Indies and USA in June.

However, Sunil Narine has made it clear that he will not make a U-turn to return to the national team and play in the T20 World Cup.

No U-turn for Narine to play T20 World Cup

Sunil Narine took to Instagram to announce his decision not to play for the national team again.

“I’m truly flattered and humbled that my performances recently have moved many people to publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup. I have made peace with that decision and whilst I never wish to disappoint, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the guys who take the field in June for West Indies,”- Narine wrote in his Instagram post.

Sunil Narine last played for West Indies in 2019, but he retired from international cricket in 2023.

Sunil Narine was crucial when West Indies won their maiden T20 World Cup in 2012. Since then he had only played T20 World Cup 2014, before missing 2016 and 2021's showpiece events.
