There is no offseason for heartbreak and hope in cricket. Gujarat Titans all-rounder, Rahul Tewatia recently went under the knife for a shoulder surgery in London and as soon as he dropped the pictures on Instagram, fans and teammates flooded the comments with support.
Gujarat Titans Posts Heartfelt Recovery Message For Rahul Tewatia
But the loudest cheer came from his IPL franchise, Gujarat Titans, who posted a heartfelt message on their official Instagram page.
“Wishing you a speedy recovery, Rahul Bhai | #AavaDe,” captioned Gujarat Titans with pictures of Tewatia.
There is no sugarcoating it. Tewatia had a forgettable season with the bat in IPL 2025. In a team led by Shubman Gill, GT showed flashes of brilliance but eventually fell short, losing to Mumbai Indians by 20 runs in the Eliminator at New Chandigarh.
As for Tewatia, he managed just 99 runs in 12 innings across 15 matches at a dismal average of 12.75 far from the finisher tag he carried with pride in past seasons. Considering he was one of GT’s retained stars ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, these numbers were a bitter pill to swallow.
Fighting Fit For A Fresh Start
Despite a dismal season, the 32-year-old isn’t ready to hang his boots just yet. Once he is back from rehab, Tewatia is expected to target a strong domestic comeback with Haryana in the 2025–26 season. With over 232 domestic games, 3837 runs and 160 wickets to his name, there is still plenty left in the tank.
Will GT Stick With Rahul Tewatia?
That is the million-dollar question. With IPL auctions always full of surprises, Tewatia’s underwhelming 2025 form might push him into Gujarat Titans’ possible release list ahead of the next bidding war.
But given his ability to turn games on their head on his day, one good domestic run might just bring him back in the reckoning.
For now, though, it is time to heal. And with GT’s “Rahul Bhai” message making the rounds, it us clear the franchise still has a soft spot for the man who once turned dead matches into magic.
