South Africa clinch 7-wicket win in deciding Test to seal series 2-1

South Africa clinched a 7-wicket win in the final Test against India in Cape Town. Chasing 212 in the second innings, the Proteas went over the line in the second session of the penultimate day of the encounter to seal the series 2-1.

India had earlier won the first Test while the home side made a comeback in the second match to level the series.

The hosts lost an early wicket on the third day after Aiden Markram was sent back in the hut for 16 by Mohammed Shami but Keegan Petersen and Dean Elgar steadied the ship for the side with 78 runs. Elgar finally departed for 30 on the final ball of Day 3.

Petersen was then joined by Rassie van der Dussen in the middle and the two batters stitched the innings in a cautious manner. They added 54 runs for the third wicket. Petersen was eventually undone by Shardul Thakur for 82 but his wicket didn't really cause much of a problem as the Proteas went over the line quite comfortably.
