SL-W vs IND-W | My focus is on finding a balance between playing the aggressor and rotating the strike: Pooja Vastrakar

The ongoing ODI series between the women's team of India and Sri Lanka have been in favour of the Indians. In the three-match series, the visitors are one up and will clash again in the second ODI tomorrow.

As it suggests, the Indian women have displayed a phenomenal cricketing performance against the Sri Lankans. One such player from that arsenal has been Pooja Vastrakar. Thanks to her all-around skills, she has been pivotal enough in leading the team towards victory. In the opening ODI, Pooja Vastrakar played an aggressive knock of 21 not out (19 balls) after taking two wickets for 26 runs.

"Our approach will be the same as the first ODI. We want to win the series 3-0 by dominating the opposition. We aim to execute all of our plans and seal the series tomorrow," Vastrakar said during a media interaction on Sunday.

Vastrakar shed light on her role in the new-look ODI squad, with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur fully behind the youngsters. She stated, "I play as a bowling all-rounder, the third-seamer who also plays as a lower middle-order batter. I am working on these facets. My focus is on finding a balance between playing the aggressor and rotating the strike with ones and twos."

"I have spent a lot of time in the practice sessions with the bowling and batting coach. Earlier I had no experience, and now I have gained experience by talking to most of my seniors. After getting so much experience, now I can go to the ground and imply those suggestions in the game," she added.

When asked about the team's other young bowlers, Vastrakar said, "We are all young and have known each other since under-19 days. Everyone is friendly within the team. So, because of this also, it feels good to work with other bowlers."

On Friday, India defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The teams will face again in the second ODI on Monday.
