SL vs AUS | I know how they bat: Silverwood on facing Aussies

Chris Silverwood had a difficult time as the head coach of England, losing the Ashes against Australia when the Three Lions took on their arch-rivals in the tour Down Under last winter.

However, his fortunes have changed since taking over as the Sri Lanka head coach.

The Lankan Lions managed to win the One-Day International (ODI) series 3-2 and ended up losing a closely contested T20I series 1-2 against an in-form Australian side.

Silverwood will be keen to keep the momentum going heading into the 2-Test series starting Wednesday at Galle.

Ahead of the match, Silverwood said that he has kept all his notes from The Ashes series and will use them to Sri Lanka's advantage.

According to mirror.co.uk, Silverwood said, "I keep notes on everything. I'm an avid scribbler, so I've got my notes on the Australian batsmen from the Ashes. I'm not going to go too much into the Ashes…but whatever knowledge I can bring from there and bring to our guys, I will”.

The former England head coach expressed his satisfaction after beating Australia in the ODIs. Especially after his credentials as a coach were questioned after England's defeat against the Aussies.

"I had a rough winter over in Australia. They're a very difficult team to beat in their own backyard. So winning (the ODI series) here (in Sri Lanka) was very satisfying, but more satisfying for me was the progress of the team that has made their way through this journey so far.

"Just to see the tactics coming together, to see guys out in the middle scoring runs, to see how we've chased totals down. One of the most exciting things is we're still nowhere near the potential we have in that team, yet we are still pushing the one of the best teams in the world. That's very exciting and we've more to come," Silverwood concluded.

The ICC Test Championship table is topped by Australia, and Sri Lanka are placed fourth with a PCT of 55.56.

A win in this series could elevate Sri Lanka above India, who occupy third place.
