In a major development, experienced Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza has pulled out of the upcoming Test series against West Indies to participate in the remainder of the International League T20.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Raza conveyed his decision of leaving for the UAE to join Dubai Capitals camp for the ongoing ILT20.

Here's what Raza wrote

"It’s been great to be back home and wear the national jersey. Time to head back to Dubai for ILT20 and join my Dubai Capitals family. See you soon."

In a time when Test cricket needs impactful players like Raza to bring people back to the stands, his decision to prioritise a franchise league over an international series has baffled the purists.

However, Zimbabwe Cricket has offered unconditional support to the cricketer, issuing him a NOC to explore playing opportunities in the lucrative league.

Earlier, Raza also opted out of the home T20I series against Ireland for the same reason. His demand in T20 leagues has increased exponentially following his stellar success in international cricket last year.

Overall, the 36-year-old hammered 1380 runs at a splendid average of 40.58 in white-ball cricket in 2022. He also proved his mettle with the ball, scalping 33 wickets across both formats.
