August has been a phenomenal month for cricket as fans have witnessed teams rise from the ashes and some splendid individual performances that have captivated audiences all over. In an attempt to recognize such brilliance, the International Cricket Council (ICC) have short-listed three players for its ICC Men's Player of the Month award for August — Sikandar Raza, Mitchell Santner, and Ben Stokes.

Sikandar Raza

Raza, playing for Zimbabwe, whipped up as many as three ODI hundreds against opponents like India and Bangladesh. His back-to-back centuries against the Bangla Tigers helped the Zimbabweans win the 3-match series 2-1.

All of Raza's hundreds came in chases, and while two ended up in a winning cause, one ended up being on the losing side.

Mitchell Santner

Santner, who led the Blackcaps in the Netherlands, scored a brisk 42-ball 77, helping his side chase down 150 runs in the second T20I.

The all-rounder continued his rich form against West Indies in the Caribbean, where he was awarded ODI man of the series for his exploits with bat and ball.

Ben Stokes

Stokes scored 40 runs and picked up three wickets in England's first Test defeat against South Africa.

The all-rounder turned things around for his side in the Manchester Test by scoring a magnificent 103 runs to set up England's mammoth win, which leveled the series 1-1.
