In a significant move, Sikandar Raza has been appointed as the new T20I captain for Zimbabwe, replacing former captain Craig Ervine. The announcement was confirmed by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) following a meeting held in Victoria Falls.

The Zimbabwe Cricket board revealed this change along with other announcements made during the meeting. Soon after the board's high-profile meeting, Sikandar Raza was unveiled as the new captain for Zimbabwe's T20 international team. The press release also hinted at additional changes that may be implemented in the future.

"All-rounder Sikandar Raza has been named as Captain of Zimbabwe’s T20 international team in one of the changes announced by the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board after its meeting held in Victoria Falls on Saturday,"  said Zimbabwe Cricket in a release.

This decision comes in the aftermath of Zimbabwe's disappointing 3-2 series loss to Namibia. Following this loss, there was reportedly dissatisfaction with Ervine's leadership, leading to his removal as captain and the appointment of Sikandar Raza as his successor.

The move is also strategic, with an eye on the upcoming T20 World Cup next year. Raza will have ample time to prepare and lead the team in the prestigious tournament set to take place in the West Indies and the USA. This change in leadership aims to bolster Zimbabwe's performance in the T20 format.
