Shubman Gill to play for Glamorgan in County Championship 2022

Indian opener Shubman Gill has signed up to play with English side Glamorgan in the County Championship 2022. The young batter will be eyeing his maiden stint, which is now reliant on visa approval.

Gill will be the third Indian to don the Glamorgan jersey after Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly. Overall, he will be the seventh player to ply his trade in this edition of the competition. 

The 22-year-old has been in blazing form since the past month, scoring valuable runs in the ODIs against West Indies and Zimbabwe to earn the man of the series award to his name. Amassing a total of 450 runs in the six matches he played, Gill smacked three fifties and a sensational hundred.

As of now, the Glamorgan side is standing on the third position in Division two of the county championship with five wins from the ten matches. With four more matches left, Gill will be available to participate in all the matches starting against Worcestershire on September 5.

Meanwhile, County's two imports, Colin Ingram and Marnus Labuschagne have left for CPL and series against Zimbabwe, respectively. Furthermore, Ajaz Patel will be available for last month of the Championship.
