Shreyas Iyer, the swashbuckling right-handed batter who was set to play the first Test match against England on 25th of January has been hit on right wrist during the practice session. He was taking throwdowns but missed a ball while playing a shot and ended up getting hit on his wrist.

The right-handed batter tried to bat despite the pain but then walked off the field after he felt more discomfort. He was also seen applying ice pack and he and along with the team management would be hoping that it is nothing serious, and he is fit and raring to go for the first Test at Hyderabad on 25th of January.

Shreyas Iyer is a critical part of India's middle order and would be batting at number 5, it he gets fit. He has good record in Test cricket in Indian conditions and would be itching to make this five-match Test series count, after twin failures in South Africa.

India will be already without Virat Kohli in the initial two Tests, and KL Rahul is expected to take the number 4 spot in his absence. So, the role of Iyer becomes all the more important and expect him to leave no stones unturned to get fully fit and walk out to the middle for the first Test.
