  • Shreyas Iyer Clarifies His Ceo Statement Says The Ceo Consoles The Players On The Bench

Shreyas Iyer clarifies his CEO statement, says ‘The CEO consoles the players on the bench'

The Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain Shreyas Iyer has clarified his earlier statement regarding the team CEO’s involvement in making the playing XI before the match. After the victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Iyer said that all he meant was the CEO only consoles the players who don’t get selected in the eleven.

“I want to clarify from the last interview when I took the CEO’s name, I meant he’s there to console the players who are sitting out, it’s never easy for them”, Iyer said.

After the much-needed victory against Mumbai Indians, Iyer had said that it’s a challenging task for a captain to inform the players about their axing. Continuing, the Mumbai batter made a shocking revelation that sometimes the CEO also gets involved in the team selection process alongside the coach, which created a lot of buzz among the cricket fans.

“It’s really difficult (to tell players about axing). Coach and at times, the CEO is also obviously involved in team selections. Each and every player takes it well, and they have put in their best efforts”, Iyer had said in the post-match presentation on Monday.

Talking about the game, KKR defeated SRH comprehensively by a big margin of 54 runs last night, courtesy of a blistering 28-ball-49 by Andre Russell and a superb collective effort by all the bowlers. With this much-needed victory, KKR have moved up to the sixth position in the points table and will lock horns with the Lucknow Super Giants in their last league match on Wednesday (18 May).
