The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given the green signal for the participation of the men's and women's cricket teams in the upcoming Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Hangzhou in September-October.

While the ODI World Cup is on the horizon, BCCI is hesitant to send their top players for the marquee event, and hence there are reports that Shikhar Dhawan might be recalled to the team and lead the second-string Indian team in the tournament.

Cricket was part of the Asian Games in 2014 when the prestigious event took place in Incheon. At that time, India refused to participate, but things have changed in the last nine years.

Meanwhile, the final decision of Shikhar Dhawan leading the team in the Asian Games will be taken in the BCCI's upcoming Apex Council Meeting, scheduled to be held on July 7.

The BCCI will also review its existing policy on the participation of retired players in overseas T20 leagues at its Apex Council meeting.

As per its current policy, a BCCI contracted player is allowed to compete in overseas T20 leagues only after he retires from international cricket and domestic cricket, including IPL.

Ambati Rayudu, who recently announced retirement from the IPL, will now be seen playing for Texas Super Kings, the sister franchise of the CSK, in the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC).

In another major discussion, the BCCI will also discuss the playing conditions for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, decide the roadmap for upgrading stadiums for the ODI World Cup at home, and discuss the jersey sponsors.
