Pakistan top order batter Shan Masood will return to Derbyshire for their remaining fixtures after being ignored for Pakistan's upcoming white-ball fixtures, which includes the Asia Cup 2022.

On Wednesday, Shan was once again overlooked from Pakistan's One-day International and Twenty20 International squads for two upcoming assignments -- an ODI series against the Netherlands and the Asia Cup in the UAE.

Masood had left the Derbyshire campaign as he was named in the Test squad for Pakistan's two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. He was part of the Test side but didn't get the chance to feature in the series as he continued to be on the sidelines.

However, now the 32-year-old is free to return to England and participate in the final two months of the ongoing season. The left-handed batter will head back to England on August 5 and will be available for selection for Derbyshire's third One-day cup match against Lancashire on Sunday.

"Thank you Derbyshire for being so patient and understanding. I look forward to coming back and finally playing some cricket," Shan Masood wrote on Twitter.

Masood has been in the form of his life. And has been for quite some time now. The left-handed opener has scored big both at home and in England and has received praise from all quarters. For Derbyshire in particular, Masood has amassed 1,074 and 547 runs in the County Championship and T20 Blast 2022 respectively.
