Pakistan roared back in style in the second Test match in Multan as they defeated the England side to level the three-match Test series, 1:1. It was a complete team performance and interestingly, this was Shan Masood's first Test win as the captain of the side.
Not many gave Pakistan a chance to win the game, especially after what transpired in the first Test. However, the home team took some harsh decision, including the sacking of key players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi from the Test squad.
The spin duo of Sajid Khan and Nauman Ali ran riot as England looked clueless against them. As a result, Pakistan won the Test match by a whopping 152 runs. While everyone celebrated the victory, captain Shan Masood went viral on social media for a comical goofup after the Test match.
The Pakistan captain was asked to fill up the Multan's honours board with details of their victory. However, he fumbled with it, as instead of writing England's name on the opposition, he wrote Pakistan's name, which created a meme-fest on social media as the fans criticised Masood.
Pakistan wins home Test after 3 years
Before the Multan Test win, the last time Pakistan won a Test match at home was way back in 2021. For three years, Pakistan cricket toiled hard and eventually prevailed against the English team.
A flat road was prepared for the first Test, which backfired on Pakistan as they lost the Test match despite scoring in excess of 550-runs in their first innings. However, Pakistan learnt a lesson and produced a spinning track which gave nightmares to the England team as they crumbled under pressure and lost the match.
