Saim Ayub Out, Zaman In; Pakistan Announce Champions Trophy Squad In A Unique Style

ICC announced 12th January as the last date to submit a provisional squad for the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy. While most of the teams announced their squad for the tournament, ahead of the date, India asked for an extension. Eventually the Indian team too announced their 15 member squad.
The ICC allowed the teams to make changes to their squad till the 11th of February. The only team that did not announce their squad for the tournament was Pakistan. Here is a look at the Pakistan Squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 -

Noticeable Selection Calls - Saim Ayub Misses Out
Saim Ayub Misses Out - In the latest development, the star batter of the Pakistan team, Saim Ayub has missed out from a selection spot due to injury. Ayub had suffered a twisted ankle during Pakistan's tour of South Africa. His availability for the major tournament was in doubt since then. As it turns out, Ayub is not a part of the squad that has been announced.
Fakhar Zaman Makes It - The left-handed opening batter and the hero of the final in 2017, Fakhar Zaman has made it to the squad. Even though it was believed that Zaman was not a part of the scheme of things, the injury to Ayub might have forced the management to include him in the side.
Sufiyan Muqeem Misses Out - In the recent limited over games, Sufiyan Muqeem was seen was one of the prime members of the team. However, he has missed out from a call up in the major tournament.
Faheem Ashraf Makes It - It was hoped that Aamer Jamal will be a part of the squad as the pace bowing all-rounder. However, as it seems that Pakistan have preferred to go with Faheem Ashraf for the CT 2025.
