Gujarat Titans' fans have received encouraging news regarding Sai Sudharsan’s fitness ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026. According to reports from the Hindustan Times, Sai Sudharsan, who suffered a rib fracture during the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT 2025-26) clash against Madhya Pradesh, is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks.

This recovery timeline indicates that the talented Tamil Nadu batter could be fit and ready for action when IPL 2026 commences on March 26.

Sai Sudharsan's injury update

Sai Sudharsan sustained a fracture in the anterior cortex of his seventh right rib while completing a diving run in Ahmedabad. The injury occurred at the same spot where he had previously been struck during a net session earlier in the tournament.

Following the incident, Sudharsan reported to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on December 29, where scans confirmed a “slender, undisplaced fracture.”

Sudharsan has since been focusing on lower-body strength and conditioning exercises while taking necessary precautions to protect the injured rib. The Centre of Excellence report highlights that Sudharsan has responded positively to the program, which raises optimism about his availability for the IPL.

The injury has temporarily affected Sudharsan’s domestic season, making it unlikely for him to participate in Tamil Nadu’s remaining VHT matches. His absence represents a challenge for the team, as he has been a key middle-order batter with notable agility and fearless strokeplay.

Sai Sudharsan’s significance for Gujarat Titans

It is worth mentioning that Sai Sudharsan played a pivotal role for the Gujarat Titans during IPL 2025, earning the IPL Orange Cap by scoring 759 runs in 15 matches with the strike rate of 156.17, including 1 hundred and 6 fifties.

The GT opener had also demonstrated excellent form in the domestic T20 circuit, accumulating 192 runs in six Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 matches at a strike rate exceeding 150.

In the ongoing VHT, Sudharsan managed 99 runs in two games before his injury. Such performances clearly underline his importance to the Titans, as he has consistently delivered in high-pressure situations.

If recovery goes according to plan, Sudharsan is expected to return to full fitness ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Gujarat Titans supporters can look forward to having the dynamic left-handed batter back in the squad, offering stability and firepower in the middle order.

Sai Sudharsan yet to shine on international stage

On the international stage, Sudharsan has struggled in Test cricket, making little impact in nine of his 11 innings. Across six matches, he has scored just 302 runs, including two half-centuries, and faces mounting pressure to retain his place.

In limited-overs cricket, he has appeared in three ODIs, producing two fifties, but has been absent from India’s ODI setup since his debut series in December 2023, leaving his future in the shorter formats uncertain.

Although his journey in the Indian Test side has seen mixed results, Sudharsan remains a key asset in the 50-over format and a valuable player for the Gujarat Titans.
