Virat Kohli reminded the cricketing world of his greatness with an authoritative innings against Pakistan in the fifth match of the Champions Trophy 2025. The star Indian batter stood up to the challenge after the early loss of Rohit Sharma during a tricky chase and guided India to a convincing win against their arch-rivals, Pakistan. 

From glorious cover drives to the inch-perfect flicks, everything fell in place as Virat composed a melody with the mosy beautiful notes. Kohli's unbeaten knock of 100 runs came in 111 deliveries and it was decorated with seven classy boundaries and countless Kohli-like runs between the wickets.

Notably, this was Kohli's 51st ODI century. He is the first to reach this milestone. Besides this, the Indian maverick broke some other records during the game and went past some of the biggest legends in cricket.

3. Mohammed Azharuddin

Virat grabbed his 158th catch in ODIs and became the player with most catches in the outfield for India in the format. He went past the former Indain legend and one of the greatest fielders in the nation's history, Mohammed Azharuddin. Kohli took the catch of Khushdil Shah and Naseem Shah as he scaled down this peak.

2. Ricky Ponting

As Kohli reached 80 runs during his knock against Pakistan, he went past the Aussie legend, Ricky Ponting in terms of runs scored in international cricket. Ponting had 27,483 runs under his belt and held the third place in this estemeed list. Kohli has now displaced him to the spot with 27, 503 runs in international cricket. He is only behind Kumar Sangakkara (28,016 runs) and Sachin Tendulkar (34, 357 runs) now.

Kohli also went past the 14,000 ODI runs mark during his century against Pakistan. He became the fastest player to achieve the feat doing it in 287 innings. The previous record belonged to the great Sachin Tendulkar, who went achieved the feat in 350 innings.
