In a 'big blow' for South Africa, tearaway pacer, Anrich Nortje has been released from the Proteas Test squad as a precaution, after he experienced mild groin discomfort in the first Test against West Indies.
Nortje has a history of injuries, and the South Africa team management don't want to take any chances when it comes to injury issues. As of now, no replacement has been named.
Nortje had a stellar first Test against the Windies last week. He picked up 6 wickets in the match, which included a 5-wicket haul in the first innings that propelled South Africa to push for victory.
Nortje was arguably South Africa's best bowler in the opening Test and his services will be missed by Temba Bavuma and co.
Talking about the first Test, it was a bowling paradise, with the batters failing to apply the basics. South Africa posted 342 in their first innings, and in reply, West Indies were dismissed for 212, with Nortje picking up a fifer.
In their second innings, the Proteas folded for a paltry 116. West Indies needed 247 to win the match, but their batters failed once again as South Africa won the match by 87 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
This is a developing story...
