South Africa defeated India 2-1 in the three-match Test series after clinching a win in the deciding encounter by 7 wickets in Cape Town. The Proteas were handed a target of 212 runs in the second innings and they went over the line in the second session of the penultimate day.
While Keegan Petersen scored 82, Rassie van der Dussen remained unbeaten at 41. Apart from these two Temba Bavuma also returned not out for 32.
Petersen later talked about his knock. “It hasn't sunk in yet. It's a mixed bag to be honest. Happy, emotional. I was trying to be positive and then build on that. It's been difficult conditions all around and was just sticking to my guns. It's been a long journey, can't tell the whole story now, won't be over till tomorrow morning. It's been challenging surfaces, challenging bowling attacks,” he said in the post-match presentation.
The two teams will now battle it out in the three-match ODI series.
