Former India cricketer S Sreesanth's tryst with legal troubles continues, as the player has been booked for fraud by police authorities in Kannur. The court ordered the registering of an FIR against Sreesanth following a complaint filed by a native of Kannapuram for fraud against the cricketer.

Rajeev Kumar and Venkatesh Kini allege that Sreesanth duped the duo of INR 18 Lakhs after promising them a villa in Udupi, Karnataka. As reported by Onmanorama, the complainants state that the former Kerala player despite repeated reminders failed to provide any development about the project and sought to build a cricket academy.

Despite reassurance about the villa being a part of the project, Kumar and Kini never heard anything from Sreesanth, which forced the duo to file a petition alleging fraud before the Kannur First Class Magistrate.

Sreesanth has been involved in legal troubles, having served a seven-year ban following allegations of match-fixing in IPL, before the charge was dropped by the Supreme Court of India, and had his life-ban reduced by BCCI.

The 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup winner retired from all forms of cricket in 2022, having played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, 10 T20Is, and 74 First-Class matches, claiming 382 wickets, combined between 2002 and 2022.

Post-retirement,  the -year-old has been playing T10 and Legends cricket for various franchises, and also mentored the Bangla Tigers in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022.
