As per the media speculations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is expected to announce the T20I and ODI squad for the series against a visiting Sri Lankan team, today. This would be the first selection after the board's apex council meeting, thus tons of changes are expected.

As per a report published by Cricbuzz, BCCI will be making notable changes to the Indian side, focusing on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli - who could be missing on the T20Is against Sri Lanka.

The report also stated that the board has sent the national selectors on Ranji Trophy duty for the third round of matches.

After the exit from the T20 World Cup 2022 followed by the thrashing from Bangladesh at home, the Indian side is touted to have Hardik Pandya in the regime replacing Rohit as the captain of both the ODI and T20I sides.

A thumb injury could see Rohit miss out on the Sri Lanka T20I series, starting from January 3. However, the current Indian skipper - alongside Kohli - could come back for the One-Dayers.

Although it is still unclear whether he would captain the Men in Blue in the ODIs, as BCCI doesn't endorse split captaincy in the white-ball formats.

Meanwhile, if the reports are considered true, maestro allrounder - Ravindra Jadeja will be returning to the team for the first time since getting ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022. Yash Dhull, who captained India in the Under-19 World Cup last year, could also earn his maiden India call-up in the upcoming series.
