Riyan Parag Opens Up On 'Critical Talk' With Kohli During His Tough Time Before IPL 2024

Riyan Parag, the batter from Assam, has been in incredible form in the ongoing 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). Sanju Samson & Co.'s start to the league is remarkable as they have won seven out of eight matches and are currently the table toppers. 

One of the key players behind RR's success is young sensation Riyan Parag, he has scored 318 runs in 8 matches with a strike-rate of 161.42. He is third on the Orange Cap list, just behind Virat Kohli and Travis Head. 

Speaking ahead of match No.38 between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians of the IPL 2024, RR star batter recalled his motivational chat with veteran Virat Kohli. 

He said that he reached out to Virat Kohli during his lean phase in the cash-rich league and the Indian maestro has shared his experience and guided him. 


Virat Kohli's Positive Impact On Riyan Parag

After his struggle in the 2023 edition, the 22-year-old batter is enjoying immense success in the IPL 2024 in his new batting position. 

However, talking to JioCinema the uncapped player has opened up about his tough phase and the 'critical chat' he had with Virat Kohli during his lean period. 

“In my second year, I was having a bad phase in the IPL. I was discussing with him on how to get out of that phase and how he used to handle similar situations, so I can learn from his experience as well. He gave me a good 10-15 minutes of his time and shared a few things with me, I think that really helped me,” Parag told Jio Cinema. 

He also expressed that he had learnt a lot from Indian head coach Rahul Dravid, who was also part of RR franchise earlier.  

Rajasthan Royals will play its next fixture against Lucknow Super Giants on April 27, 2024.
