Richa Ghosh Only Indian As Nominees Revealed For ICC Women's T20 WC Player Of The Tournament

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced the nominees for the Women's T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament.

Nine players have been shortlisted for the award, with only one Indian nominated for the coveted accolade.

Richa Ghosh

The star for India in the group stage, Richa Ghosh played match-winning knocks in India's opening two games and stole the show in the slog overs. She smashed two scored of 40 plus, which included a brilliant 47 that almost stole the win for India against England.

She garnered 136 runs, at an average of 68 and displayed her attacking prowess in the tournament.

Natalie Sciver

Sophie Ecclestone

The number one ranked T20I bowler, there were high expectations from Sophie Ecclestone, and she lived up to the hype. She bagged 11 wickets in the tournament, at an economy of 7.54. Despite her brilliance, England failed to snatch the victory in the semis.

 Meg Lanning

Captain leading from the front, Meg Lanning is well and truly back. Coming in at number three, Lanning has solidified the Australian innings throughout the tournament. She has 139 runs in the tournament, including a crucial and match-winning 34-ball 49 that stole the show.

Alyssa Healy

Coming back from a calf injury, A lot was expected from Alyssa Healy and she has delivered the goods for her. nation. So far, the keeper-batter has amassed 171 runs, at an average of 57 and has laid a strong foundation with aggression at the top.

Despite West Indies having a group stage exit, Matthews was the lone shining light for her side. She performed exceedingly well and often dragged her side close to victory, but hardly got support from the other end. She accumulated 130 runs, at an average of 43, and picked up four wickets as well.

So far, the right-handed batter has 169 runs, but more than the runs, the start she gives at the top is vital for the Proteas women.

Tazmin Brits

The Player of the Match in the semi-finals, Brits has been sensational for Proteas women. Often being the aggressor in the partnership alongside Wolvaardt, Brits has slammed 176 runs, at an average of 44. Moreover, she has plucked out six catches in the tournament, which have been vital to win matches.
