KL Rahul is a curious case. A player who is blessed with so much talent has failed to justify his place in the national side. Ever since he made his India debut in 2014, KL Rahul has performed well in bits and pieces, but hasn't really lit up the stage.

With Shubman Gill waiting in the wings and the voice getting louder for KL Rahul getting the much needed axe, maybe time has come that he should be dropped from the Indore Test.

Here we discuss the 3 key reasons as to why KL Rahul should be dropped from Indore Test

Shubman Gill waiting for his chance

The year 2023 currently belongs to one and only Shubman Gill. The former Under-19 WC winner has scored truckloads of runs in 2023 across formats and time has come for the team management to back him in the longest format.

It has not been a smooth start for Gill in the Tests, but he recently scored his maiden Test ton against Bangladesh and that confidence which he carries at the moment should be rewarded. India needs confidence at the top and Gill can provide just that to the home side.

Mental blockage

As stated before, KL Rahul oozes talent, but has struggled for runs against the best in the business. Sometimes technique is not an issue, but the outside noise can trouble you as a batter. It's all in his head at the moment. He has scored runs in difficult conditions in the past, but at the moment, he is thinking a bit too much about form and everything else.

The great Virat Kohli struggled for form at the beginning of 2022. What did he do? He took a break from the game, cleared his mind and came back stronger. Maybe time has come for KL Rahul to do the same. Clear out all the negative thoughts from the mind.

Stats don't lie

The numbers are proof of everything. The average has gone down, the confidence is down and KL Rahul looks down and out. Since 2022, KL Rahul has played 6 Test matches, and has scored just 175 runs. Scores of 20, 17, and 1 in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy doesn't justify the bad form KL is in at the moment.

Maybe the Bengaluru born should go back to the domestic circuit to get his mojo back. And in the meantime, others can truly get their opportunity to shine at the big stage.
