There's no Asia Cup match today, reason revealed [Source: @ShubhamSports8/X]
The Asia Cup 2025 has witnessed numerous thrilling contests between rival countries so far. The most recent Asia Cup clash saw India's clinical win over Pakistan, as the Men in Blue steamrolled their counterparts by a comprehensive six-wicket margin.
The tournament, which began on September 9, has seen the dominance of India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh —teams that have qualified for the Super Four round. However, there's no match scheduled for September 22 in the Asia Cup due to the following reasons.
Why there is no Asia Cup match scheduled on September 22
It's worth mentioning that the group-stage matches are over and the Asia Cup has already proceeded to the Super Fours. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have qualified for this round, which has witnessed two games so far. While Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka in the first Super Four match, India swatted aside arch-rivals Pakistan in a high-voltage face-off.
Bangladesh faced Sri Lanka on September 20, and the contest between India and Pakistan was played on the very next day. However, given there are only four teams, a one-day break has been kept to avoid cricketers from one particular team playing on consecutive days.
After facing India in Dubai, the Pakistani team travelled to Abu Dhabi for their encounter against Sri Lanka. As the Pakistan players travelled a distance of over 100 kilometres, the break will allow them sufficient rest before facing an in-form Sri Lankan outfit. The Men in Green had to move to a different city, meaning they wouldn't have had enough time to rejuvenate and practice for the Sri Lanka clash.
Having said that, Bangladesh will play two Super Four matches on consecutive days. However, both games will be played in Dubai, meaning the Tigers won't face travel-related hustle in the coming days.
