Indian pacer Renuka Singh is back in the mix for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. The Himachal pacer, who has been out of action since December 2024, will return to the Indian setup after missing plenty of cricket due to a stress fracture.

Renuka Set To Lead Indian Pace Attack

Renuka Singh Thakur has been one of the most important assets for India in the past few years, as she has been one of India's finest strike bowlers, especially with the new ball, where she has managed to pick 35 wickets in ODI cricket at an average of 22.02 while managing an economy of 4.85. Her record in this format has been incredible, as she has been India’s core wicket-taker.

However, since December 2024, she has been dealing with an injury and then the stress fracture, following which she had to miss a few months of cricket, and now, after recovering well, she is back in the side for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia women, set to begin on September 14th.

Interestingly, she has also been included for the Women's ODI World Cup, succeeding the Australian series, as Renuka will be part of both crucial series for the Women in Blue.

Speaking ahead of the series, Indian women's head coach, Amol Muzumdar, was affirmative for Renuka and confirmed that she has joined the Indian side after clearing all the necessary tests. Furthermore, speaking, he said she will be the leader of the side's bowling lineup, as her role is crucial for the team.

"Renuka has just joined in for this series. She was recovering, and she cleared all her tests. Renuka is an important member of the team; she is the leader of the pack as far as medium-pace bowling is concerned. I think she's been an integral part of this team. She had an injury, a layoff, and now she's back with us," Muzumdar said.

Indian Women's Team To Face Australia Ahead Of World Cup

The Indian women's team is coming off confident series wins over the English side, as they won both the ODI and T20I series comfortably after playing a solid hand in all three departments.

They will be playing a three-match ODI series against the Australian women ahead of the Women’s World Cup 2025. The first ODI of the series will be played on September 14th, while the second will be played on the 17th, with both matches taking place at the New Chandigarh stadium, while the third game will be played on September 20th at Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi.

As for the Women's World Cup 2025, the Indian team will open their campaign against the co-hosts Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30th, with the final scheduled for November 2nd.
